Sperm Donor Acceptance Process

General Qualification of Sperm Donor Applicants:

Approval and acceptance of an applicant into our donor program normally takes 1-2 months. A good portion of this time is dependent on the applicant and how rapidly they can complete the application process. Five appointments are generally required to include, samples analysis, donor physical, PAI (personality assessment index),interview with our MSW and the final interview which includes the first donation and infectious disease and genetic testing. All of these results must meet our strictest guidelines. You will have various laboratory tests, including infectious disease screening and genetic testing. In order to assist us in the evaluation of your personal and family medical history, you will be asked specific and detailed questions regarding you and your family members’ health and well-being.

Step 1

After you have submitted your online donor screening form , you will be contacted and scheduled for a short meeting with our donor coordinator to discuss the application process and answer any of your questions about the program. At the same time you will be asked to provide a donation in our donor center for analysis and a test cryopreservation of your sample. The results of this analysis are usually known the following day. This cryopreservation will be completed one additional time during the application process.

Step 2

If your sample meets our requirements you will be contacted to start the donor application. This application is a detailed history of your health as well as your family members. Depending on any follow up clarification that needs to be made to your responses, your application is reviewed within 3 days of submission.

Step 3

Following the application review, you will be scheduled for your PAI, MSW interview and donor physical. These can normally be scheduled and completed within 1-2 weeks.

Step 4

The final step is the donor interview with our coordinator, the first donation and laboratory and genetic testing. You will also set up your schedule of donation appointments at this time. While this testing is being completed, you can still donate. However, you are listed as conditional until the results are returned from the testing laboratory and reviewed. This normally takes 3 to 4 weeks to complete. Contagious Disease Testing is normally repeated every 3-4 months during your participation in our program. This testing usually takes about 3 weeks to complete.
